Obituary or Eulogy: Robert " Bob" Paone Jr. age 58, of Calabash, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2026. He was born in New York on August 31,1968. In 1994 Bob joined the Albany Police Department, where he served dedicatedly for 20 years. Following his retirement from the force in 2014, he relocated to the coastal community of Calabash, North Carolina, happily trading the snow for the sun and sand. Bob was best known for his incredible sense of humor, wit and deep love for a good glass of wine or a sip of Buca. A true foodie, he loved exploring new, unusual culinary creations. He was a natural host who took pride in sharing meals and stories, and was almost always spotted with a glass of wine in hand to accompany whatever delicious concoction he was busy crafting on the smoker or the Blackstone grill. When he wasn't scrolling Instagram for his next recipe idea or watching car enthusiasts on You Tube, Bob loved his trips to Las Vegas so he could "soak in the free." Above all, Bob was defined by his love for his family, his friends, his dogs, and a good cigar on the deck. He leaves a legacy of laughter and friendship, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bob is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Patty Gould Paone; his son Jared Hartman, and daughter-in-law, Bridgett Hartman; his mother Dorothy Paone; and his mother-in- law, Catherine Gould. He is also survived by his extended in-laws, many loving cousins, and a large circle of lifelong friends who were like family to him.
