Private Revelation on Purgatory:
An angel said to St. Bridget of Sweden, “Blessed is he who, while still living on earth, helps purgative souls with prayers and good deeds. ”The prayers and good works of the faithful relieve souls gradually from this heavy burden, and that they are delivered sooner or later according to the fervor and pure intentions of those who thus serve them.
St. Frances of Rome was shown in a vision of purgatory that each soul’s guardian angel, an entity of indescribably beauty and magnificence and bathed in the splendid glow of ethereal reforging. This is the same angel that was with the soul on earth, is still with them in purgatory, and on their right side. The angel encourages the soul in purgatory by telling it every time a person on earth prays for it or gives alms on its behalf.
“By assisting the souls in purgatory through prayer, we shall not only give great pleasure to God, but will acquire also great merit for ourselves. And, in return for our suffrages, these blessed souls will not neglect to obtain for us many graces from God, but particularly the grace of eternal life.”
