Obituary or Eulogy: Meehan, Kevin B. ALBANY "When you see things go wrong in the world, look for the helpers. There's always someone who's trying to help." Albany Police Detective Kevin Meehan thought his obituary might someday describe one of his battles against injustice. However on February 21, 2018, age 37, he succumbed to an unexpected villainy. His final moments were shrouded in love by his wife, Crystal Meehan Waters, his parents, Barry and Meg Meehan, and his brother in blood and in arms, Sgt. Daniel Meehan. Kevin is also survived by his sisters, Megan Meehan and Ellen Meehan, numerous aunts and uncles, and his niece and nephews. Diagnosed with cancer shortly after experiencing the joy of marriage, Kevin Meehan died as he had lived: fighting bravely against unthinkable odds. Medals of honor, recognitions of bravery, and athletic accolades decorated his walls but did not define his life. Kevin sought to be a helper. As a teacher, a mentor, a protector, and a public servant, he dedicated his life to enriching the lives of others. He will be missed. He will not be forgotten. Relatives, friends, members of the Albany Police Department and fellow Law Enforcement colleagues are invited to visit with Kevin's family Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Albany Capital Center. Funeral services with Departmental Honors Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10 a.m. in the Historic Church of St. Mary on Capital Hill, Albany, N.Y. where his funeral Mass will be celebrated.
